CINEMATOGRAPHY

FILM DIRECTING

FILM DIRECTING may be in narrative and documentary styles.

VISUAL EFFECTS and EDITING

VISUAL EFFECTS includes special effects or anything done to alter film footage.

PROMO/COMMERCIAL MAKING

PROMO/COMMERICAL MAKING: While we understand that creating these pieces is a group effort, the nominee should be the team leader/primary creative voice for each project shared.

These pieces are typically 60 seconds or less and are designed to promote an event or idea, or sell a product or service.

TV/BROADCAST JOURNALISM

TV/BROADCAST JOURNALISM is stylistically tied to a narrative voice where the nominated journalist is a part of the story and the primary creative force behind the produced work.

This work may include, but is not limited to, interviews, b-roll, natural sound, interviews, voiceovers, and reporter stand-ups, focused on topics or events affecting your school or community.

Any specialty showcased that is not the student's primary specialty is considered a SECONDARY SPECIALTY. Students DO NOT need to declare a secondary specialty. The application has room for students to add links to showcase work in secondary specialties if desired.

Along with their primary specialties, students may also consider showcasing the following:

FILM ACTING is not offered as a primary specialty. HOWEVER, if you have a strong actor, you may nominate that student in THEATER/Acting.

SCREENWRITING is not offered as a primary specialty. While we recognize that screenwriting is an art form associated with film making, we are not set-up to evaluate scripts.

ANIMATION has been moved to MEDIA ARTS

MOTION GRAPHICS is included in MEDIA ARTS
